March is all about the ladies!!! Women's History Month

So March is a month where we devote it to Women's History and we celebrate the impact that woman have made to the world. I've got a few favorite women who have made great impacts to history as well as to me personally that I wanted to share with you all...

First Lady Michelle Obama (come on how many of our FLOTUS have gotten out there and done the Dougy with our kids or urged them to get to moving!! She's a great role model.)

Yes! That's right Ms Kerry Washington I mean come on how many sisters can play this role she plays in Shonda Rhines Scandal and do it with such the grace and elegance that she does I absolutely adore this show.

The lady herself behind two of my favorite television shows Shonda Rhines. Got to show much props.

My Sorority Sister and romance author Rochelle Alers.  She has always been able to captivate me with her words and she celebrates 25 years in the publishing world this year.  YOU GO GIRL!

Now that I've touched on a few of my favorite present heroes let me touch on some of my past heroes

I first and foremost have to pay homage to the five pearls of my sorority the Pearls of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc. (Founders Arizona Cleaver, Fannie Pettie, Myrtle Tyler, Pearl Neal, & Viola Tyler)

Mrs Harriett Tubman I've always been interested in the Underground Railroad but her story has always been one of my favorites.

Helen Keller story makes you aware that if your determine and focused enough you can achieve anything. She was a author, activist, as well as she earned her Bachelors Degree all I got to say is she was a Woman with A Purpose.
If you got a few ladies in your life who make a positive impact into your life then this is the month to give them much praise and gifts (okay maybe I'm running out) because it's their month.

A Look At Black History Through The Eyes Of A Photographer

Eunique J Gibson
February is a big month a lot of things are happening and for the African American population it’s a month of celebrating those who are paving the way or have pave the way but should it be just one month or should we be celebrating Black History every day of the year.  Morning Talk Show Host Tom Joyner does a segment on his show call Black History 365 Days A Year with Jeff Johnson for Black America Web where he gives a tidbit on something major that happened in Black History on that day in history however this year Mrs. Eunique J Gibson took Black History to a completely new level with her photography.

Eunique J. Gibson is the proud owner of Eunique Gibson Photography in Maryland and this year to celebrate Black History she showed photos of young children dressed up as various historical figures in the black community with a quote from these individuals the project was entitled “BecauseOf Them, We Can”. The project became such a hit with the likes of KerryWashington, Russell Simmons, Common and Tom Joyner all giving her shouts out as well as various news moguls giving her air time that Mrs. Gibson decided to extended the project to early 2014 as well as release the projects for purchase on her site.

The project caught my attention when a friend of mine forward me a photo of a group of children portraying the Divine 9 team with the saying “Brotherhood. Sisterhood. Scholarship. Service. Between the Divine 8 and  the very last photo which is President & First Lady Obama I'd have to say these two were my absolute favorite of the first 28 but they are all absolutely adorable. If you love these photos as much as I do or any of the 28 that are posted at this time feel free to grab one or all of them and preorder the calendar as well believe me the whole project is about to blow up and you do not want to miss it so stay close for more information.

The Three Leading Ladies of National News This Week

So OMG!! Beyonce lip synced the National Anthem at the Inauguration! That has been the main topic of my news feed via Facebook, Twitter, and my other social media accounts for the past few days and you know what honestly, I am going to be real I would have to.  It was freezing cold and your having to coordinate with the band and the noise and sometimes it's best to take the road best suited for the situation.

Now one of the two things that popped up here and there that I actually thought made more sense to me was the Eye Roll Seen Around the World via Michelle Obama when the Senate of the House Majority decided to tap her on her back for approval while she was eating.  Such a hilarious moment...

Then there is my girl Hillary Clinton who I would have thought was shooting a scene for Shonda Rhines Scandal when she answered a question on Capitol Hill about the Libya situation.

Can we say Clinton/Obama 2016!!

Four More Years...

President Barack H Obama has been sworn in for his final time by Constitutional law. It is so easy to forget the legacies that fought a hard fight to get us were we are. I was very pleased that Obama had chosen to use one of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr bibles for this inauguration to me that says a lot. When I look at the photos and I see Michelle, Malia, and Sasha standing by looking on I thought to myself there goes a man with value, honor, dedication and a passion for his job. It is an honor welcome back to the American people for four more years. It is my prayer that even though Congress is trying to play hardball or that many do not like our President. These people are livid that he won the electoral vote.  He is our President, the Commander of Chief, as well as a very powerful leader.  While I know, the situation is a hard bullet to bite because one thing was said but another was done such as taxes being hiked up or maybe you are not feeling the Obamacare plan all that I ask is to be open to everything.  You never know when one of these economical advances that Obama made will some way or another assist you.
The Obama family (POTUS being sworn in)

With all that being said I lift my hands as if I was giving Dr. King, President Obama, and God a hi-five to another glorious four years.

A quote from Dr. King:

Faith is taking the first step even when you do not see the whole staircase.

Barack Obama is I believe speaking in reference to Dr. King and his movement during the Civil Rights Movement:

Even when folks are hitting you over the head, you cannot stop marching. Even when they are turning the hoses on you, you cannot stop.

Barack H Obama (01/2009)
Barack H Obama (01/2013)
Is it just me or does he seem a little more confident in role and POTUS as if saying I got this.

Look at his official pictures closely in January 2009 he has a ghost of a smile but in his January 2013 picture he’s got a flat out grin as to say I got this Welcome Back Ladies & Gents.

Tracy Reese & FOTUS Michelle Obama "The Dress"...

It is not often I find myself drooling over a dress or something fancy. Why you might ask I have gotten to the point that running in a pair of pumps is easy. So to me trying to drop a few dollars on a nice dress is very few far and in between.

When I don’t do much nights out that require that type of attire however this past September First Lady Michelle Obama donned a Tracy Reese originally and I remember going Ohhhh that’s nice…

It was one of my first thoughts that when it came out if I could get it I wanted it. Well the pretty pink frock is available however, it will not be one of the things I purchase here in the near future but I still think it is a nice little dress to wear on a night out. Will you ladies be rocking the FOTUS style this year…?

I have to say the Tracy Reese's Spring Collection is looking HOT...

This was truly a mommie moment I like to be able to dress up and play the sophisticated sister that I am but at all times I'm always JB Mommy.
