52 Week Money Challenge Check In

So we are in the middle of week five and everyone should have at least ten dollars in their savings accounts for their money challenge. If your just starting the challenge I would defiantly say try and catch up before the time continues and your trying to play catch up in the middle of the year.

So how is everyone doing?  Does anyone have any suggestions for the others? Are you doing automated drafts, every paycheck do you move the amounts, do you budget it, how are you excelling at this challenge?

Me what I'm doing is while the amounts are small I'm moving the full month amount out at the beginning of the month and putting it in a account that's not associated with my checking account but instead is linked to another bank that's not directly linked with my everyday money.  At this time I'm using ING Direct because my interest rate is basically .75%.  Would love to hear from you on how your success is going!

Are Your Goals Realistic Or Do They Have Consequences?

Are you setting goals that are in the result hurting you?  I read an article today that talked about Considering Not Setting Goals in 2013 and honestly my thought was WTH because I truly believe that when I set goals I sent myself up for successor am I really setting myself up for success with multiple side effects that will affect me later. Often times as business minded people we look for ways to get things done quickly, effectively, and productively while making a sound decision involving our revenue but is it always the best choice?

I would love for you to read the article I read and give your feedback and tell me your thoughts.

I am still on the fence because I am a stronger believer in goals and setting the bar high enough so that the result is something I can be proud of.  Yeah I have set a few big hairy audacious goals or BHAGS as the world of goal setters say…

How about you?

The Three Leading Ladies of National News This Week

So OMG!! Beyonce lip synced the National Anthem at the Inauguration! That has been the main topic of my news feed via Facebook, Twitter, and my other social media accounts for the past few days and you know what honestly, I am going to be real I would have to.  It was freezing cold and your having to coordinate with the band and the noise and sometimes it's best to take the road best suited for the situation.

Now one of the two things that popped up here and there that I actually thought made more sense to me was the Eye Roll Seen Around the World via Michelle Obama when the Senate of the House Majority decided to tap her on her back for approval while she was eating.  Such a hilarious moment...

Then there is my girl Hillary Clinton who I would have thought was shooting a scene for Shonda Rhines Scandal when she answered a question on Capitol Hill about the Libya situation.

Can we say Clinton/Obama 2016!!

Four More Years...

President Barack H Obama has been sworn in for his final time by Constitutional law. It is so easy to forget the legacies that fought a hard fight to get us were we are. I was very pleased that Obama had chosen to use one of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr bibles for this inauguration to me that says a lot. When I look at the photos and I see Michelle, Malia, and Sasha standing by looking on I thought to myself there goes a man with value, honor, dedication and a passion for his job. It is an honor welcome back to the American people for four more years. It is my prayer that even though Congress is trying to play hardball or that many do not like our President. These people are livid that he won the electoral vote.  He is our President, the Commander of Chief, as well as a very powerful leader.  While I know, the situation is a hard bullet to bite because one thing was said but another was done such as taxes being hiked up or maybe you are not feeling the Obamacare plan all that I ask is to be open to everything.  You never know when one of these economical advances that Obama made will some way or another assist you.
The Obama family (POTUS being sworn in)

With all that being said I lift my hands as if I was giving Dr. King, President Obama, and God a hi-five to another glorious four years.

A quote from Dr. King:

Faith is taking the first step even when you do not see the whole staircase.

Barack Obama is I believe speaking in reference to Dr. King and his movement during the Civil Rights Movement:

Even when folks are hitting you over the head, you cannot stop marching. Even when they are turning the hoses on you, you cannot stop.

Barack H Obama (01/2009)
Barack H Obama (01/2013)
Is it just me or does he seem a little more confident in role and POTUS as if saying I got this.

Look at his official pictures closely in January 2009 he has a ghost of a smile but in his January 2013 picture he’s got a flat out grin as to say I got this Welcome Back Ladies & Gents.

Are You Sowing Good Seeds....

Today I posted this message on my Facebook status around 1400: Joel Osteen once stated when you focus on being a blessing; God makes sure that you are always blessed in abundance. I do not know whom I bless but all I can say is thank you for my return blessing.

Not to brag but my blessing came in the simple situation of doing my job for almost a year and 2 months and being blessed with the opportunity to redecorate my home all on my corporation generosity.

Sometimes you never know when your blessings will be return or how big that blessing is going to be. So no matter what happens just keep sowing your seeds. Sometimes your testimony isn't your yours but sometimes it's the answer to someone else's problem.

“Every farmer's desire is that the seed fall to the good ground.”

Stepping Back On Rough Days

Some days it's okay to say you've been defeated. Now don't go pouting or anything but you have to realize if we attempted to do everything on our to do list we would be past exhausted... I'm still feeling burnt out from yesterday Super mom moments and so today I simply leave you with this thought.  Someone once told me that if there isn't a door already open for you then your ultimate goal is to build a door and open it for yourself.
I'm so tired I'm going to have to watch Scandal & Grey's Anatomy tomorrow!!

Are you running around with a S on your chest

So today I came home from work feeling like I had ran a 400m relay run and was ready to pass out on the first bed type structure around.  However, I knew I had tons of work to be finished and still I needed to step into that role of Mommy to attend to Jonathan and his needs before his bedtime.

Now as I sit here with droopy eyes, trying to remember if I ate dinner I gentle remind myself that Superwoman doesn't live here and the only way I was going to achieve success was to simply slow down.  Sometimes as Mom’s we feel as if we have to tackle the world but that is not true sometimes taking the backseat can be beneficial…

Are you a super mom?

Living On A Budget...

When 2013 started I had the mindset that I was going to be more financial concise. For me that meant budgeting everything down to the dollar because I was changing my lifestyle by making the change. Gone were the days of spending $650.00 a month on fast food and restaurants to spending $150.00 in the grocery store and cooking almost daily. I no longer shopped on a splurge but instead I planned. If I wanted a pair of shoes, they had to be within the budget or they were not being purchased. No longer am I watching the checking account like a hawk trying to remember if I swiped the card somewhere and the account is going to be over drafted before the next payday.

How might I be doing this you may ask?

When I pay my tithes, I pay them directly off top before anything else is paid because it is setting the pace for a better monetary opportunity.God gives instructions on how Israel should sanctify the tithe before they can ask for a blessing. Deuteronomy 26:12-15 (NIV)

Dave Ramsey’s budgeting sheets are very valuable tools. He has a monthly and a weekly sheet that helps you budget everything out and lets you see your finances.  As well as where your money is going at a glance. It also helps you budget to zero. Therefore, it does not leave you with all the numbers that does not match your income. It makes you make decisions on how to spend your money.

Now I am concise of brands I do not think this is a habit I will break. Therefore, I take it in stride and I buy things that can easily be combined in various combinations to make a meal. I also try to buy with a sale to help reduce the cost or to make the difference if you have a grocery store who allows you to earn points towards gas this is also is very helpful with gas being over $3.00. I often use Southern Savers to look and see what sales are going on and get a good idea of how to use my coupons. My myth that coupons was for older ladies quickly went out the door.

I have also started participating in the 52 Week Money Challenge which I spoke about on January 3, 2013 and I have placed that in a high yielding interest savings account to be able to achieve more than just the final outcome on week 52.

So as you can see my family and I are determine to regain financial control of our lives to begin living more freely and enjoyably. We wish you the best on this venture and would love to hear how you succeed.

Best Friend vs Friends: What's The Difference...

My Ace & I celebrating her birthday

A friend calls your parents Mr & Mrs however a best friend calls your parents mom and dad.  A friend has never seen you cry but a best friend has always been the shoulder you lean on to cry on.

A friend never asks for anything to eat or drink but a best friend opens the fridge and simply make their selves at home.
A friend asks you to writes down your number however a best friend will ask for you for their number because we can't remember it (Yes their own phone number).

A friend borrows your stuff for a few days then gives it back. A best friend cleans their house and realizes they have a houseful of your stuff that needs to be return.
A friend only knows a few facts but a best friend can write your biography on your life.
A friend will leave you behind if that is what the crowd is doing but
a best friend will always go with you.
For those who have best friends and want to celebrate them don't forget National Best Friend Day is June 8. Believe me you will be hearing about the ACE on that as well.

To Spank a child or not... What's your thoughts

A recent study from 2012 showed that by spanking our children we are turning them into depress and aggressive individuals. I have always heard about sparing the rod and spoiling the child and I am a firm believer in a spanking if it is a necessity to me it is a last resort but I do not have an issue with the spanking. Now I think the problem may be that these parents do not know how to balance it all. To still provide the positive impact that these young children need to learn to express their selves without issue. Therefore the question is do we need mandatory parenting classes for trouble toddlers or should we quit basing every step of raising our child on a study unless it is necessary.

I know one state that I will probably never ever live in. Delaware has recently passed a bill that states that spanking is considered child abuse as well. My right eyebrow just shot up. Now in my mind, I am thinking about the whole shooting that just happened at the elementary school in the Northeast and it makes me wonder was that young man spanked as well or was he sheltered.

Now I know my child well enough as you can see from the picture up above he is plotting something and it does not look good but my child knows me as well as I know him. He knows how far is to far. Do not let society raise your kids you have to do that.

"He that spareth his rod hateth his son: but he that loveth him chasteneth him betimes."'

Politicking...

Nevada Democrat Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid

So as I sit here and catch up on today’s news I find myself truly upset with the way that the Republicans of Congress are wanting to play this game of cutting the social budget to account for other things that they want to see done. They are seething because Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid of Nevada has told President Obama to not play with Congress and take any legal action to override all decisions and make a decision. Republicans are asking for Medicare and Social Security to be cut I am just sitting here shaking my head like do the realize the lives they are affecting oh yeah I forgot they do not care. Now I will admit I noticed some taxes going a little higher on my paycheck but it was not anything to scream about or at least I did not think so but I must admit it is discouraging to have Congress willing to let a financial burden land on all of America then just compromise.

Now lets all think back as to Bush Sr and Bush Jr Oh Oh hold on lets see didn't Daddy start the Iraq war, Jr ignored it, and I can't even let Clinton go on this one because he ignored it as well even though he did the smart thing he did send a team in but wouldn't let them execute. Now here comes Obama and he simply handle it and people still got stuff to say really... Okay I'm off of my political soapbox but best believe if they cut Medcaid and Social Security I will not be one happy mama.

Truly Blessed,
